The purpose of this book is to assist students of Koine (Biblical) Greek with studying by combining the first four years of study into one concise and easy to use aid. Within these pages, the student will find every aspect of the Greek language from the forms, to how different parts of the sentences are used. I originally designed this book to provide a way for me to keep the notes and charts of my classes in a compact, concise booklet for studying anywhere at any time. Now that the book is complete, I continue to find it to be an irreplaceable assistant in my continued studies of the Greek language and explaining God’s Word in the Pastorate. My desire is that this book will help other Pastors and saints in their studies as they endeavor to understand and present the Word of God accurately to their congregations, friends, relatives, coworkers, and with all others that God so graciously gives opportunity to share His Word.

Nouns, Articles, and Case Endings
Case is determined by function, not form
In the Greek language, it is important to understand that the relationship of the noun to the other words in the sentence always governs the case. Hence, although Genitive and Ablative share the same endings, they are clearly distinguished within the context and function of the sentence. There are eight cases in the Greek language: Nominative, Genitive, Ablative, Dative, Locative, Instrumental, Accusative, and Vocative.
Vocative Case
The case of direct address.
The Nominative Case
The case of specific designation, the naming case.
The Genitive Case
The case of definition or description.
The Dative Case
The case of personal interest. It expresses the indirect object.
The Locative Case
The case of position or location.
The Instrumental Case
The case of means or association.
The Accusative Case
The case of limitation or extension.

Happy are those who die by a lord, Revelation 14:13
In Revelation 14:13, we come across the phrase “by a lord” when John is instructed to write, “Happy are the dead, the ones who die from now on by a lord (ἐν κυρίῳ).” The word “lord” is capitalized in some English translations, indicating it is in the Lord Jesus. However, the context does not support this interpretation. The timing of Revelation chapter fourteen, starting in verse six, is in the last half of the Tribulation Period, just before the return of Christ. Three angels are seen giving distinctly different messages. The first angel has good news related to eternity, the gospel for those in the Great Tribulation. This is not the gospel message presented today, which has the inherent ability to save a person, Romans 1:16, and relates to the death for sin and resurrection of Christ three days later according to the Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4. This messenger is bringing a message to the Nations, telling them to worship the God, Who is the Creator of heaven and earth, for the hour of His judgment has come, Revelation 14:7. The second angel cries out with the message that Babylon, the great religious harlot, has fallen, Revelation 14:8. Her fall is just before the return of Christ to claim the earth and set up His kingdom. A third angel is then heard shouting that anyone who worships the beast and his image, having received his mark, will now face the wrath of God, Revelation 14:9-11. At this point, John is instructed to write, “Happy are the dead, the ones dying by a lord from now.” They are happy because they are able to rest from their hard labor, Revelation 14:13.
